Why NEET Is So Important?

NEET is the only qualifying entrance exam for medical aspirants to get admission into the top government and private colleges in India such as All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER) in Puducherry. It is conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) on an annual basis for MBBS, dental, AYUSH, and nursing courses.

NEET Eligibility Criteria:

The candidates who comply with the following eligibility criteria can apply for NEET exam.

Age Limit: The candidate must be at least 17 years old at the time of admission. There is no upper age limit.

Educational Qualification: Candidates who have completed their 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology with the minimum aggregate score of 50% for General candidates (45% for PWD, and 40% for SC/ST/OBC candidates) are eligible.

Nationality: The candidates must be an Indian citizen, or NRI, or person with Indian origin, or an overseas citizen of India.

How to Register for NEET?

To apply for the NEET exam, follow the below steps-

  • Click on the NTA NEET registration link.
  • Generate Login credentials.

NEET Exam Pattern

The NEET exam follows the below pattern for all of its courses:

Mode of Exam: Offline mode (pen and paper-based)

Duration of the exam: 3 hours 20 minutes

Total Number of Questions in the Exam: 180 multiple-choice questions (MCQs)

Subject and Marks Distribution: The exam consists of 4 sections – Physics, Chemistry, and Biology with each section consisting of 45 questions. Each correct answer will be awarded 4 marks, and 1 mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.

Language of Exam: The exam will be conducted in 11 languages – English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Odia, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
