Beyond the Rat Race: The Race of Talent

I’m writing this post on my site after one year. I had completely stopped writing for the past year, but with this post, I’m starting again. I’ll try to stay active on the site.

A thought came to my mind, and I wrote it down exactly as it was. You all can share your opinions about it. Let’s see how people respond to my thought maybe it will be helpful to someone. A few days ago I read that a certain college released its first cutoff list and it went as high as 100 percent. Around 5 years back if someone even scored 60 percent it was considered a big achievement. But time has changed so much that today even a 60 percent student feels like a failure.

Beyond the Rat Race The Race of Talent

There are so many people in this world who were never good in academics, but because of their other talents and hard work they reached great heights. There is a saying that wherever there is honey, ants will come. That honey is talent. The most important thing is that every one of us has some talent inside, we just need to bring it out.

In the Gita, Lord Krishna said that when you do work that matches your nature, it feels like joy. But when you do something against your nature, it feels like punishment. One proof of this is that most heart attacks happen on Monday mornings, because for many people their job feels like a burden. The same job, if it matches your nature, feels like gratitude. So think about it – is your work a burden or gratitude, joy or punishment?

Knowledge can be gained for two reasons. The first, and most common, is wealth. Wealth here does not just mean money, but also name, respect, and recognition. The second, which very few people follow, is study for the sake of study. For them, learning itself is the joy. If you look at your own life, you’ll see that there are some topics where you know so much that if they had been part of the school syllabus, you would have scored the highest marks. You studied them because you enjoyed them. But the subjects you study only for marks feel like punishment.

There was a very popular Hindi movie – 3 Idiots. Its last dialogue was – be capable, and success will run after you. That is exactly the purpose of this article – discover your inner talent, believe in it, and success will touch your feet.

Even if you get trapped in the rat race of this world and somehow win the race, you will still remain a rat. If you don’t value your own qualities, don’t expect someone else to appear like a savior and lift you up from the ground to the sky. Remove this illusion, because the only person who can save you or destroy you is you yourself.

There are countless examples in this world where people studied in top schools, colleges, or universities but ended up in terrible and illegal activities. And there are also examples where people from very ordinary schools and colleges became shining stars of the world. This doesn’t mean that the ones who score good marks are useless. They are good. But those who don’t get admission into top colleges should not think they are useless.

Every one of us gets a chance to perform our best somewhere. Wherever nature has placed you, that should be the launching pad of your life. A launching pad is the place from where a rocket takes off into space.

The most interesting thing about the rat race is that even if you win, you’re still just a rat.

And if someone truly understands this, then why should he try to prove himself by running in the rat race? If I win, who am I really trying to show it to? Is that person so important that I should waste 10 or 20 years of my life just to prove something to him?

Why should I need to prove anything at all?

Ultimately, one must look at oneself with the attitude of a witness. And if I am not on the right path of my own consciousness, then no matter how “right” the path may appear in the eyes of the world — how can it truly be the right path?

And finally, from the depth of my heart I want to say – think deeply about this.
