Friends, over the past month, I’ve spent time observing, feeling, and reflecting deeply on life’s core principles. These five thoughts are not from a book but have emerged from personal experience and intense introspection. These paragraphs, which I share with you today, represent five different doors to understanding life. They help us grasp who we are, what our Karma truly is, the real meaning of Love, why Time is our most valuable currency, and how we can engage with the shadows within us.
Have you ever thought that the biggest answers in life don’t always come from books, but from stories and experiences that wake us up from within? Today I want to share 5 life lessons I wrote down over time. Maybe, after reading them, you’ll start seeing your own journey in a new way.
Join me as we journey through these five profound truths.

Truth 1: The Bed of Arrows is Woven by Karma
Lesson from Bhishma: Life is a Bed of Arrows
A warrior lying on a bed of arrows, waiting for the sun to turn north, after which he would give up his life. The death of Bhishma was an example that a yogi’s death should not happen in any other way but only by his own will. Just as a yogi chooses when to leave this world, Bhishma’s death was a great lesson. Now look at this carefully. The arrows that pierce him and also hold him are karma. Every action and vow that wounds us yet supports us. They weave an endless net of the world. His body, though that of a great warrior, is bound, which represents the individual self. Above him, the sun is the symbol of universal time, the eternal witness that controls birth and death and opens the door to liberation. The truth is, friends, life is a bed of arrows woven by our karma. The soul remains unbroken, and only when awareness unites with the cosmic sun of truth does liberation rise before us.
Truth 2: The True Opposite of Love is Ego
2. Love vs Ego: The Real Opposite of Love
Can hate be the opposite of love? Whether you are hating somebody or loving somebody, you are still thinking about the same person 24/7, right? The opposite of love is indifference. That’s the right word. Indifference. Whether you love that person or you don’t even care if that person exists or not, that makes it irrelevant. Correct? I used to think the same. But then a story came into my life and changed everything. She said the opposite of love can only be one thing—ego. Where love is, ego cannot exist. Where ego enters, love has no place. That completely changes everything for you. If in love you ask for something, expect something in return, then it is no longer unconditional. And if it is not unconditional, then it is not love.
Lesson: When you forget “I,” that is when love is born in its true form.
Truth 3: Our Only True Currency is Time
3. Time is Our Only Currency
If you see, the only currency we all own is not money, it’s time. We are only given time. We give that time so that in return we may get something else. That’s the system—you give 8 hours, you get money. In truth, we only give time, nothing else. So now find time, search for time, to stop, to sit. Find time to get lost, to flow.
Find time for the moon, for the morning, for home, for every if and but. Find time to close your eyes, to feel, to sing with all your heart, and to cry openly. Find time for confession, for acceptance, for that same love that happens again and again, for sulking, for making up, for decorating the home together.
Find time for a good book. For that rose lying between its pages. For that one answer you have been searching for years. Find time for that childhood dream. For yourself. And if nothing else, smile one day without reason—for your parents. Find time, or else time and you will both remain sitting here.
Remember: If you do not find time, then both time and you will remain empty.
- Make time for the moon, for the morning, for home.
- Make time to close your eyes and feel, to sing from the heart, to cry freely.
- Make time for that old book which holds a rose between its pages.
Truth 4: The Courage to Sit with Your Shadow
Sitting with Your Shadow
I once saw an amazing book. On the cover it was written: “How to sit with your own shadow until it speaks.” How can one sit with their shadow until it talks? It means having the courage to sit with those parts of yourself you usually hide. The doubts, wounds, desires, and stories you push away. Instead of running to society with all of that, you remain still. You let the silence deepen until those hidden fragments begin to speak, telling you what you need to know. Do you have the courage to meet your hidden self without judgment, to listen until it makes sense, and to realize that even in your darkness there is a voice longing to guide you home?
Truth 5: The Oneness of Creator and Creation
Oneness: Beyond the Body and Mind
At the deepest level of meditation, when everything is lost into a dark abyss, a feeling is born which is called the eternal experience. Tell me one thing—is dance and the dancer two different things? Is the song and the singer two different things? Is a flower and its fragrance two different things? When you see prana, nature, and life together, you will know that with every physical form an invisible essence is also born. If this is my physical body, then invisibility is my consciousness. Diversity may exist in name, form, and body, but what about consciousness? In the same way, creation and creator were never separate. This, friends, is the feeling of oneness that leads you toward self-realization.
Conclusion: Live with Awareness
These are the five truths that emerged from my contemplation over the past month. From the bed of Karma’s arrows to the feeling of Oneness in the depth of meditation, every truth points us toward one thing: Live your life, but with awareness. Remember, you can choose your actions, shed your Ego, use your Time wisely, embrace your inner darkness, and eventually feel the Oneness of existence.
This journey isn’t completed in a day, but the start can be right now. Are you willing to take the courage to speak to your ‘shadow’ today?
So friends, can we recognize the arrows of our life?
Can we understand that our actions both bind us and support us?
Can we know the difference between love and ego?
Can we make time for ourselves, to talk with our own shadow?
Can we feel that oneness where the dancer and the dance are the same?
These are the questions that lead us toward self-realization.
Begin today—take a deep breath and look within.
Life is a path where every moment is a lesson, every experience a teacher.
When we understand these deep truths, we do not just exist—we truly live life.
ॐ Shanti Shanti Shanti 🙏
